Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how U.S. Social Forum handles information when you visit ussocialforum.org, use the contact form, or email us. It is written for visitors in the United States. Privacy rights and legal requirements can differ by state and depend on which laws apply to an organization and its activities.
Information we collect
Information you provide. The homepage contact form asks for your name, email address, and message. A form submission is sent to the website server, but the current form handler only returns a receipt and is not configured to store or deliver the message. If you need a reply, email us directly. When you email us, we receive your email address and any information you choose to include. Please do not send Social Security numbers, financial account details, medical records, or other sensitive information.
Basic technical information. When a browser requests a page, the website host may process technical details such as an IP address, browser and device information, requested page, date and time, and referring page. These details may appear in routine server logs used to deliver pages, diagnose errors, and protect the site.
The site does not offer user accounts, purchases, or newsletter subscriptions.
How we use information
We use email correspondence to review and respond to your inquiry, communicate about that inquiry, maintain appropriate records, and meet legal obligations. Technical information may be used to maintain the site, troubleshoot issues, and prevent misuse. We do not use contact information to build advertising profiles or send a marketing newsletter.
Cookies and similar technologies
The site code does not include a first-party analytics service or advertising pixels. The Contacts page loads Google Maps. When that map loads, Google may receive your IP address and browser request details and may use cookies or similar technologies under its own policies. You can manage cookies through your browser settings; blocking them may affect the map.
When information may be shared
We may make information available to service providers that host, secure, or maintain the website or email systems, only as needed for those services. The map on the Contacts page is provided by Google Maps and connects to Google when the page loads. Google handles information it receives under the Google Privacy Policy and Google Maps terms. We may also disclose information when required by law, in response to valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of the site and others.
We do not sell personal information for money or use it to build cross-site advertising profiles. Links to other websites are provided for reference. If you follow an external link, that website’s own privacy policy and practices apply.
How long we keep information
We keep email correspondence for as long as needed to respond, handle follow-up, maintain appropriate records, and meet legal obligations. Technical logs are kept for the period needed for site operations and security, subject to the hosting provider’s retention settings. The current contact form handler does not retain submitted form fields. When information is no longer needed, it is deleted or de-identified where reasonably practicable, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.
U.S. state privacy rights
Depending on your state of residence, the information involved, and whether a particular privacy law applies, you may have the right to request access to or a copy of personal information, correction, deletion, or a portable copy. Some state laws also provide rights to opt out of certain sales, targeted advertising, or profiling, and to appeal a decision about a privacy request. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
To make a privacy request, email contact@ussocialforum.org with “Privacy Request” in the subject line and tell us what you are requesting and your state of residence. We may ask for information reasonably needed to verify your request. Please do not email sensitive identity documents or a full Social Security number. If we deny a request where applicable law provides an appeal, you may reply with “Privacy Request Appeal” in the subject line. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
Children’s privacy
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this site. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided information may contact us at contact@ussocialforum.org.
Security
We use reasonable measures designed to protect information handled through the site. No website or method of transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the site or its privacy practices change. The “Last updated” date above shows when the current version was revised.
